Debra George began her career when she graduated from Lehigh County Community College in 1977 with an Associates Degree in Occupational Therapy. She worked with Geriatrics in a long term care facility for 13 years as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant/Activities Director III while completing a Bachelors Degree in Therapeutic Recreation from Lincoln University in 1986.
In 1989, Debra Completed a second Bachelors Degree in Occupational Therapy from the Dominican College of Blauvelt, New York and has been working as a Registered Occupational Therapy in the field of pediatrics (early intervention and school based occupational therapy services) since 1990. Debra's interest in the pediatric field has been in handwriting, written communication skills and assistive technology.
She began working with Handwriting Clinics through Easter Seal of Chester County in 1998, she became Certified with the Interactive Metronome program and has taken the Handwriting Without Tears course including The Print Tool. Debra became Certified through the Handwriting Without Tears Program. She is currently licensed as an Occupational therapist in both PA and DE and has also practiced in the state of Maryland in 2008.
In 2009, Debra began working in the state of Delaware in various school districts as an Assistive Technology Specialist. Currently, she is responsible for providing AT to over 100 students in over 20 schools.
Debra George is also the co-owner of the Golden Light Wellness Center which was established in 1999. She is a licensed PA Massage Therapist, Certified Infant Massage Instructor (Educator of Infant Massage), Certified Hypnotherapist and Reiki Master. She works with infants, children and adults to to help with stress reduction through Massage, Reiki and aromatherapy. Debra is trained in Raindrop Therapy, Cranial Sacral Therapy, Ear Candling and Seated Massage. For more information about other services please visit the Golden Light Wellness Center site. As a Holistic Occupational Therapist, Debra uses a variety of modalities to help children during classes and sessions.
